Saucy Fluid Art is the realization of a secret dream that I’ve had for a long time. But something always got in the way. There was always something pressing to do.
Then the most unexpected thing happened. A pandemic took over the world. It was like entering a time warp. After painting every wall in my house, I turned to painting canvases. I was looking for something to express my vision. I turned to Fluid Art, also known as Pour Painting. Because the world stopped, it gave me the space to immerse myself (literally) in my art.
Why Fluid Painting? Years ago I saw a movie about painters living and loving in Tuscany, Italy. It was very romantic. But what I really remember is how they painted on big canvases, throwing paint around with big brush strokes. I thought, “That’s how I want to paint!”
Now I am so pleased to present my acrylic on canvas paintings for sale at local markets. I love to combine fluid art techniques in new and different ways. As a Florida resident for over 25 years, I am inspired by the Florida landscape, so you will find much of my work compliments your coastal decor.
It’s ironic that during a time when so much seems out of our personal control to turn to a form of art that was originally called “accidental painting”. That's why I often explain my art as "taking the accident out of accidental painting". One of the first things you learn is that it’s not as easy as it looks, but that’s part of the intrigue. Every painting is a journey and a challenge.
Not surprisingly, Picasso said it best, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.” My hope is that I can share a moment of respite with you, if only by providing something of beauty to decorate your home or workplace.
